Regular pick up times are Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Joshua Farm (213 S. 18th St.). There are directions (under About Joshua Farm) if you haven’t been here before. Park in the parking lot and come up the steps to the large canopy.
At pick up, produce will be harvested and washed, but we still recommend washing things at home, and double checking for bugs and grit. Please read the labels carefully and make sure that you take the items from the right box! Please don’t take the box with you, but transfer items into your own carrying containers. You can help yourself to anything on the extras table. A greeter will usually be hanging around the CSA pickup canopy if you have questions about anything.
We will have bags available (they’re usually in a bin below the table), but it’s helpful if you bring your own. You may also want to allow time to pick your own herbs while you are picking up your produce.
If you are unable to come at your scheduled time, please let Josh know in advance so we can make other arrangements (i.e., a temporary switch to a different day of the week, your share of the harvest bagged and put in a cooler for you to pick up later, etc.). If you don’t contact us or show up by 6 p.m., you will forfeit your produce, and it will be donated, sold, or enjoyed by the farm staff. Josh will usually have his cell phone with him in the field, and you are welcome to call him with last minute changes. If you are going to be out of town for your pickup, you may send a friend to get your produce.
Supervised children are welcome at the farm. Yours are welcome to play in the sand box, visit the animals, pick flowers, dig for worms, explore, etc. Please make sure that they stay on the grass or paths and watch out for hazards like posts, bricks, and glass. Restroom facilities are available; it’s the smallest building in the field, next to the herb garden. Feel free to bring a picnic and enjoy the field–you are welcome here!!
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please let us know! We’re looking forward to a great season.
