Farm Show!

Farm show cornucopia

This morning I participated in the nondenominational worship service at the Farm Show.  The quiet, reflective service was a welcome change from the crowds and sensory overload that I usually associate with the Farm Show.    I went primarily because Joshua Group is the recipient of the free will offering from the service, and I wanted to express appreciation, but I was pleasantly surprised to find myself in a sacred space.  Wayne Bender started his message by placing an empty “horn of plenty” on a bare table, then wove together scripture references with the diverse crops produced in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Apparently, I need to brush up on my Bible reading–I had no idea that so many fruits, vegetables, and herbs were specifically named in Scripture!  I appreciate the sense of community I experience at my home church, but there’s also something neat about worshiping with strangers, and remembering our shared connection to the Creator and the creation.  Let the whole creation cry, “Alleluia!”
