It was just trying to figure out if it wanted to rain or not this morning. I guess it decided that it not only wanted it to rain, but it wanted to rain all day. The rain is getting a little old because it feels all too familiar. It is starting to feel a little like last year when it rained all the time. Spring is always rainy, though and it was only a month ago that we were praying for rain because it had been so dry. Such is the life of a farmer.
There are things that are really exciting…I haven’t been to Elmerton this week. But last week the potatoes were shooting though the soil. Purple Majesty was just looking beautiful. I am really excited to see them poking though. I believe that we are going to have a great crop. The tomatoes in the high tunnel and the first field plot are growing and looking great. We also have cucumbers that are just coming up in the high tunnel. The farm is exploding with life but there is no end to the work.
Over Easter and again this past weekend I am realizing that I am really taking ownership of the farm. It is becoming my baby. I take care of it by feeding it and watering it (when it isn’t raining). I worry about it while I am away. I think of all the things that need to be done but aren’t getting done.
I will try to post more often and maybe even get some pictures on here. Well, until next time.
