This sink is big news at the farm, though it’s probably not the kind of sink you have in your kitchen. You see, for the last seven years, we’ve been washing all the vegetables that need to be washed in bins. When the water gets dirty, as it inevitably does, we have to dump out the water, which means carrying the bin somewhere that won’t make a muddy mess. And in case you haven’t noticed, water is heavy and it sloshes around, so you get wet, and your back and arms hurt.
Enter this sink, which I purchased at an auction recently. It’s been semi-permanently installed in our new wash station, and it has a drain. This is huge. Instead of using bins, we can fill up the sink, and when the water is dirty, we pull out the plug, and voila! The water goes away, no heavy lifting required. I’m pretty excited about this, in case you can’t tell.
