Trip to the hardware store: Blue painter’s tape

This tape was just not meant for the greenhouse!

Organization is key to helping the farm run smoothly. Proper labeling saves a lot of time and confusion. One of the most important areas for this is labeling our seedlings while they are in the greenhouse and the field. Not every farm uses tape to label their flats, but those that do use blue painter’s tape.

The main advantages are –

1. It sticks well to flats, even when there is a little moisture

2. It comes off easily when being removed

3. It has good visual contrast with black markers

4. It holds up well in greenhouse conditions

We have used masking tape and duct tape in a pinch and they just don’t work as well for us. So the next time you are at the hardware store, consider some blue painter’s tape!

DSC05034Don’t forget that volunteer hours at the farm, on-farm sales, and CSA distribution are tonight from 4pm – 7pm. We hope to see you soon!
